What is healthcare management?

I am writing this answer from the perspective of India.
In India, Healthcare Management includes courses which would help you in managing projects related to public health e.g. Nutrition programmes, Water & Sanitation Programmes, Maternal & Child Health Programmes, etc. You can get job in National Health Mission of Govt of India. You can get job in Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) which is also a separate department of GOI.
Many Non-Government Organizations are engaged in public health e.g Save the Children, CARE-India, UNICEF, etc.
It is course or job designed for the people who want to do something for Social Welfare.
Indian Institute of Healthcare Management (IIHMR)- Delhi is the best institute for Healthcare Management. Though they have branches in Delhi and Bangalore, but I would recommend Jaipur because in 2013 they got the status of University and you can get MBA degree from their. Rest of its branches provide PGDM course in Healthcare Management.
As a fresher, you would easily earn between 4 to 4.5 lakhs p.a.
Generally, doctors with MBBS/BDS/AYUSH background opt for Healthcare Management to enhance their knowledge. But, BSc., BSW and BBA-Hospital/Healthcare Management students also go for this course.
